Yea, that grabs the attention haha.
I've lost count of what day this is haha. Half the time I don't know what day of the week or date of the month it is either, but I'm still having some fun in Saigon until my debit card comes in the mail. After that I'm going straight to Nha Trang and motoring on this trip. Saigon is nice but I fear being here too long and not hitting everything outside of the city in time. I did plan on spending most of the left over days in Saigon, but I fear I've spent too many already.
I didn't get up to much today, I slept in, breakfest, hit the bank, mailed my christmas presents home and other misc stuff. For some reason I can't ship my dirt home, but I was told I can pack it and fly it in my luggage. I found myself in a new spot and discovered the Via Com Centre. It's a two story mall and above that maybe 20 stories of office. Under the main level is four stories of shops and a food court. Most of the stuff in the mall was for the rich Vietnamese, things that you don't need on a daily basis to survive. If that mall closed everyday Vietnamese life wouldn't be affected. If one of our malls closed, would are lives be affected? The bottom floor was the food court and it had plenty of options. I hit Popeye's chicken only because I saw one in Hong Kong and said "If I see another Popeye's I'm sure as shit going" as I regretted skipping the HK Popeyes. I went to it and it was good. I caught a moto home as it was getting close to 5pm, when all the shops close. I hit a barber, got a haircut and a straight razor shave haha. I explained why in one of my videos but quickly, barbers on military bases were Vietnamese and as such, usually spies. The troops didn't exactly trust them, so paying someone to put a 5" blade right at your jugular is a huge act of trust. This guy was maybe 30 so I assumed he wasn't Viet Cong and in return he didn't make me bleed. Cross that off my "Vietnam - To do" list and for $3.50 altogether I couldn't complained and tipped.
The weather was turning so I headed to my hotel, after killing some time and the weather got better I hit the Sheridan hotel. Why? It has a roof top patio and it's the tallest bar in Saigon, 23 stories high. I went for the pictures but paid $6.50US for admission (by way of beer haha). Got some good shots, discovered a mall a block away and checked it out. Saigon is pretty big and signs are so cluttered I'm noticing new places everyday. I've been on De Than street for almost two weeks and yesterday I found a "Good Morning Vietnam!" restaurant a few doors down from me haha. I knew it was something but I didn't study the sign. There's too much for the eye to focus on at once. Anyways hit that downtown mall, wasn't anything that amazed me but found a little buddah I've been looking for, just something tiny for luck I can toss in my pocket and go. I hadn't eaten yet because of Popeye's chicken at 2pm and walking across the downtown core was getting me hungry. I hit up a local coffee place because they made a decent sounding burger, and it was! Finished it off with a chocolate extreme frozen drink and I'm here.
Tomorrow I'm going to try and ship our Vietnam stuff out but I still need Kirshin's cash. Until then I just want to get rid of it and stop worrying about it. As far as I'm concerned I'm done buying Vietnam stuff but at the end of my trip I probably will make one last purchase, or two for myself haha. If we've already talked then yes I'm keeping an eye out for your stuff, but other then that, I'm done haha. just going to upload some pics and video and maybe grab a beer before bed. Take care
