I started getting sick Thursday at 2pm, so this makes Day 3 and I was doing great. I went 20 hours without being sick, got ready to leave the house and was sick! Hooray! So today was another day of laying in bed trying to figure out what to do. From what I've read it's mostly a digestion track issue and to spare you details I've been going from one extreme to the next. I was fine for 20 hours and this morning sick again. I called in the cavalry and took immodium, and although it might mess with my system even more I rather no go than go all the fucking time haha. Today I didn't want to leave my room for too long so I stocked up on water downstairs in the kitchen. The guesthouse sells water bottles in their fridge and a 1.5L bottle is 5,000VND or $.25CDN so I'm cool with that. I made a trip to the Circle K - mart which I'll bring up later and got the healithiest things I could find. Some Thai version of V8 fruit cocktail and Ritz crackers haha.
To kill time I watched a doc on the US Home front during the war which was good, but I can't stand hippies haha. It was talking to one and he wanted to make a war at home, so troops would be pulled out of South East Asia and fight on the streets of Washington, Clevland, Detroit, etc. It was also talking about the peace negotiations and every time the US went to North Vietnam to bargin the North wouldn't budge, because it could watch on the news how fucked up things back home were growing and over time support for the war faded. Mentioned that Nixon was elected on peace and was starting to end the war and pull out troops. What I love is that he sent B-52 Bombers, for those that don't know, a plane that can drop 100 750lbs bombs and literally wipe a grid on a map off of the earth, he sent B-52 bombers to take out Cambodia as the enemy had big camps inside the border as the US wasn't allowed to enter Cambodia, then later he sent about 50,000 troops to invade another country, yet bring troops home haha. I love it :)
HBO had a film on Winston Churchill and his role as Prime Minister of Britian during WWII. I was bored but it was good! He was a stout, grumpy, stubborn man but that's what was needed during the war. Someone called him a bulldog and it's a dead on comparison, even physically he looked like one haha. I have all the seasons of American Dad on my laptop too and Roger, the alien mentioned that if Stan, the dad doesn't open up a Circle K-mart in the living room then he'll keep using Stans stuff, like hemroil cream. Circle K... huh? I googled it and I've been shopping at a US convience store for the last two weeks! haha. Turns out they started in the SW of the US and they have some locations in Japan, Vietnam, few other asian countries and one in the middle east haha. Cool. I've also used youtube for all it's worth in keeping me entertained. I'm going to bed after this but tomorrow morning if things aren't normal again, as I don't expect them to be, my dad told me to go to Columbia Asia Hospital and talk to Dr. Ngocnguyen as he's the head of Internal Gastrointestinology. Doc Jay has done alright and I'm still alive, but entering day 4 of being sick on vacation, I need some back up. Not like I could send myself to Long Binh and get checked out by all the nice round eyed nurses or anything. Thanks to an online Vietnamese translator I wrote something that could pass as Vietnamese, as they aren't perfect. Took me maybe 5 minutes to type out, and an hour to copy to my note pad because of all the squiggles and stuff over each letter haha. I'm hoping someone does know english, like someone who left Vietnam for a western university and came back with english haha. Otherwise I could say Hi but couldn't talk about whats happening in Vietnamese, just a lot of hand movements and jumping around haha. I should be fine but hopefully it's just a diet change and not something crazy. I'll be fine and when I can I'll let you guys know. Take care.
