Do I stay or do I go?

Alright, I looked at my finances and did some accounting last night. I'd like to come home with some money, and in order to do that I can't go touring around the country. I was going to see about going home early while i still have cash. My flight home is Dec 15th and was about $800. I know changing my flight I could be charged $300 as a cancel fee. I called Travelocity and asked them how much a United flight (sadly I can't switch carriers by cancelling my ticket) and the cheapest day to fly out is Wed Dec 8th, a week before I was scheduled to leave. I almost dropped the phone though when I was told to buy that ticket would cost me another $975.17 plus the $300 fee so that's $1275.17 to fly one-way Saigon to London Ontario. In comparison, when I booked my trip and flying here and back, it was $1400. Now it's $1275.17 just to fly home! Did some number crunching and if I only spend $17.75 a day, covering water, my room and food I can last until Dec 15th and only cost me $497. I rather come home broke than come home one thousand dollars in debt! So that's my new plan!!!

So what am I going to do for the next 28 days in Saigon? Honestly, I don't have a plan for it all, but I think I'm going to fully explore the city, hit everything that I haven't, find new markets, see if there's new vietnam era stuff. This gives me a chance to whore myself out. If anyone needs any Vietnam kit let me know and I will find it for you. I'm open for business, Doc Jay's Surplus Hunting Inc. Email me at forcerecon85@hotmail.com with your want list and a maximum price you're willing to spend on it. Prices are negotiable here so like in an action you need to have a maximum before I walk away from the sale. All I ask is prompt payment via EMT or Paypal and no backies. Once I buy something I can't return it like it was shirt that didn't fit right once you got home (but we all know you only wore it once for that night and returned it, we've all done it). If I buy it and then you don't want it, it fucks me, and I don't have money to be fucked with.

So yes I will stay and come home broke, but at least I won't be owing, or owing a fortune but I'll probably have to find a job. I probably could do the Tasting Room again, but no offensive, I rather have a fresh start somewhere new but at least I have the option coming back (since I am a legend). Christmas shopping is done so the first few days back will be trying to fight the jet lag and spend time with the family and friends. If there's enough time and interest maybe we can sneak in a pre-christmas meeting where I play Santa and hand out kit haha.

As for tomorrow, I'm hitting up Cu Chi again. I found a tour that's 2 1/2 hours long instead of 45 mins like my last one, which was way too short. Tomorrow I have to do the 100m "wild" tunnel system. I call it wild since there are animals, stuffy air, dirt, bugs, etc in it and it's actual size of the original tunnels. Later on there's a clean tunnel with a paved floor, widened walls for fat westerners and every 25m there's an exit to the surface. That tunnel goes 160m long and I want to complete both before I leave Vietnam as I consider it a personal test of tunnel ratting as it'll be the closest thing a civilian can get to it and completing that I feel that it's enough to wear the tunnel rat patch with pride :) I gotta get up early and be at the travel centre for 8am. I'll see ya later!
